Honda has incredibly high standards for green motoring. Maybe you've heard some ad or read a press release hinting at the company's less-than-impressed view of electric vehicles (EVs). Annually, J.D. Power and Associates ask people who have purchased a new-model vehicle a few questions, following 90-days of ownership. Officially called the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study, the investigation assesses participants' satisfaction with about 100 vehicle features (i.e., riding and handling and comfort and convenience). At the end, the APEAL study reveals, which features people find most appealing about their new vehicles. It is a great honor for automakers to earn a place in the study. In 2010, the Honda Fit was dubbed winner of the Subcompact Car category.

Honda's Accord sedan has been recommended by Consumer Reports as one of the best family vehicles for 2010. 2011 looks to continue this tradition, with a newly revised interior and exterior, along with improved crash test ratings by the IIHS. Honda Accord Plug-In

Honda has already conquered the hybrid market, with exciting additions to the auto world including Insight and the all new CR-Z Sport Hybrid. Now, he Japanese auto maker takes on all-electric. Honda Motors has announced the launch of its Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program.

The plug-in hybrid is "intended to be compatible with ones daily driving habits," according to the company. "The user will get the advantage of taking short, frequent trips in its all-electric mode, while also utilizing the long-distance driving capabilities when needed."

Honda CR-Z Gas Version Planned

Inside Line is reporting that Honda may take their CR-Z hybrid towards a different direction. You see,  Honda may "offer a turbocharged engine option in late 2011 in its CR-Z hybrid coupe. The engine, a forced-induction 1.6-liter four-cylinder, may be offered in two variants, including a 200-horsepower edition that could be earmarked for the new CR-Z Type R."

With a much larger powerplant, producing 48 to 88 more horsepower than the hybrid, Left Lane news predicts the "future version of the hatchback may put a greater emphasis on all-out performance."

Barber Honda Employees Play Santa

It's that time of the year again - Kids Christmas is HERE!

Every year, Barber Honda employees contribute to the community by collecting gifts on behalf of local disadvantaged children.

"This event has really grown over the past few years with the increase in need in our community due to these strained economic times. What a great opportunity to teach our children the gift of giving", says owner Steve Ekegren.

Employees are able to participate by bringing in a new unwrapped toy for a boy or girl ages 1-12 from now until Wednesday, December 15.
