Safety Advice for Driving with Pets

Driving with your pet does not have to be stressful if you take the time and effort to adequately prepare for your trip. Your pet's first time in a car should not be for an extended road trip. Let your pet get comfortable with being in the back seat of a car.

Your pet should be kept securely inside the vehicle at all times. This means that it should not be allowed to hang out the window or roam around in a truck bed. This is true even if the truck bed is covered. Your pet can slide around and get hurt. Keep it away from gear shifts and controls so that you are not distracted when it tries to move around. Take your pet out of the car with you whenever you leave the vehicle.
