As your Honda dealer in the greater Valencia area, we're committed to sharing with you, our blog readers, what you need to know to make sure that the car you're driving keeps you and your family as safe as possible.  Customers buy new Honda models because they are routinely given the top safety awards in the industry, and the 2013 Civic sedan and coupe are no exception.

In fact, these two models are the only small cars to earn a 'good' rating in the small overlap crash test that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) puts all vehicles through.

This assessment is the fifth and final component of the organizations strenuous testing, and it has not always been factored into the total score or safety pick designations that the IIHS puts forth.  This additional measure was added in recent years, though, and now, the IIHS requires all vehicles to get at least an 'acceptable' rating on the small overlap test in order to achieve their top honor of TOP SAFETY PICK+.

The Civic Sedan and Coupe have both achieved this, and they've surpassed 'acceptable,' getting 'good' ratings.  They also both earned the top 5-Star overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), as well.

If you're on the hunt for a safe, reliable, and powerful, yet efficient, new car, then we recommend that you stop by Barber Honda in Bakersfield, CA today.  We'll be happy to set you up to test drive the model of your choice, and let us know if you have any questions.
