Nearly everyone dreams of winning the lottery. After all, free cash would make it much easier to pay bills, buy a new home or Honda automobile, or even simply live a little better. Twenty-five lucky Honda workers on the assembly line at the brand's manufacturing plant near Birmingham, AL.,  knew this when they created a lottery pool for the recent $656 million Mega Millions jackpot drawing on March 30, 2012, and they were successful in their gamble!

Though the group of twenty-five didn't win millions, they did win a prize of $250,000, which, of course, is $1,000 each before taxes. Though that won't buy a new home, it will give the winners a bit of extra spending money for this year's summer vacations! As pool member Wanda McClellan explains, "Just the thought of accepting a check to spend from contributing $10 is exciting."1

Most of the 25 lucky people involved in the pool work second and third shifts at the Lincoln, Alabama plant. Worker Bartholomew Lawson created the pool after purchasing the lucky Quik Pik at a convenience store in Waco, Georgia, near the Alabama state line. Five other lottery tickets of the same amount were awarded in Georgia.
