Honda Counts on Next-Generation Fit to Bring Huge Sales Surge

Have you had the opportunity to take the new Honda Fit for a test drive? What's holding you back? Over the past six years, the Fit hatchback has impressed drivers across the spectrum with its excellent fuel economy ratings, impressive cabin space, and unique style. Now, Japanese automaker Honda is counting on the new next-generation Fit to drastically increase sales for the lineup and help the company achieve its goal of selling two million cars in the U.S. in the year 2016.

The Fit is manufactured in a Mexican plant, which means it somewhat bypasses the financial issues surrounding the floundering European market and the increasing value of the Japanese yen. This plant has the ability to produce up to 200,000 units per year after it begins production in early 2014, and it will produce the Fit and new variants of the Fit model (yet unknown) when it does so. Most of these vehicles will be sent to the U.S. market.

In even better news, Honda also promises that the next Fit will deliver even more attractive packaging and better fuel economy numbers. Considering that the current Fit is already rather impressive, that's quite a promise!
