Honda is Building a Civic-Based Compact SUV in Europe

Honda is known for its innovative style and forward-thinking tactics. That's why the Japanese automaker is currently hatching plans for a new Honda Civic-based compact SUV/crossover, to be released in Europe. This comes on the heels of competitor Nissan's successful release of the Qashqai off-road vehicle across the ocean.

The new vehicle is much smaller than the Honda CR-V, which is also built on the Civic platform. The compact SUV/crossover will be built on hatchback architecture, which means that the beloved American sedan architecture is being abandoned. In short, the SUV is unlikely to make its way to the U.S. Even though it doesn't have a name yet, the new Honda is already slated for release sometime in early 2013. The compact holds promise for European Honda sales, which haven't been as successful there as they have been in the United States.

One thing is for sure. With amazing new new Honda vehicles being thought up and designed every day, we're sure to be in for a treat this year and for the years to come.
