Honda Fit: Highest Ranked Subcompact Car in 2010 APEAL Study

Annually, J.D. Power and Associates ask people who have purchased a new-model vehicle a few questions, following 90-days of ownership. Officially called the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study, the investigation assesses participants' satisfaction with about 100 vehicle features (i.e., riding and handling and comfort and convenience). At the end, the APEAL study reveals, which features people find most appealing about their new vehicles. It is a great honor for automakers to earn a place in the study. In 2010, the Honda Fit was dubbed winner of the Subcompact Car category.

The fun and fuel sipping Fit (known elsewhere as the Honda Jazz) has been on sale in North America only since 2007. With a subcompact, hatchback body, it has room to seat five and a long list of standard safety features, such as: stability control, navigation, and alloy wheels.

There are two different Honda Fit models from which to choose: base Fit and Fit Sport. Both versions share the same 1.5-liter; 4-cylinder engine (rated at 117 horsepower [hp]) mated with a 5-speed manual transmission (or optional 5-speed automatic transmission); fog lights; standard air conditioning, and power windows and door locks. As for fuel economy - the 2010 Honda Fit earned a healthy EPA fuel-economy rating of 27 mpg/city and 35 mpg hwy. Plus, as you can see below, the Fit rates very high for safety.
