NHTSA Rewards The Odyssey with 5 Star Crash Safety Rating

Are you a stickler for safety, that's passes by minivans because they aren't know as being...well...the safest of vehicles? It's time to look again, this time at the 2011 Honda Odyssey. Having earned an overall five-star score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) for all three crash tests, test category, and overall, it's certain to meet even the most discerning Moms' and Dads' sense of safety.

What makes this distinction even more impressive is the fact that the NHTSA has recently upped the stakes. With tighter regulations, it's not as easy to earn a perfect five-star rating as it once was. This year, only 11 vehicles out of 50 tested earned five-stars.

We attribute the Honda Odyssey's A+ success in frontal and side crash tests and the now-standard rollover test up to its Honda exclusive Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected components to distribute impact more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This effectively helps to reduce the crash energy transferred to the passenger compartment ultimately enhancing occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes.

In addition, the 2011 Honda Odyssey, comes standard with more than just a few ounces of accident prevention. These include:

-          Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control
-          Three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor
-          Dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags
-          Driver's front-side airbag
-          Front passenger's side airbag equipped with occupant position detection system
-          Anti-lock brake system (ABS)
