Top Safety Pick Awarded to the Honda Odyssey

According to the IIHS, the all new Honda Odyssey is the safest van on the road.

The 2011 Honda Odyssey has earn the highest possible safety ratings from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and it is the only van to ever do so. No other minivan this year that has received the "Top Safety Pick" award from the IIHS and an "Overall Vehicle Score" of five stars from NHTSA.

In order to be dubbed a Top Safety Pick, the automobile must earn the highest score of 'Good' in all four of the tests ratings; front crash, side and rear crashes and rollover performance. The 2011 Honda Odyssey surpassed guesses in all of those categories. NHTSA's newly introduced system, Overall Vehicle Score, is part of the federal government's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that is being applied to 2011 models. This score is decided by seeing which does the best job of protecting vehicle occupants involved in front, side and rear crashes, as well as rollover performance.

All of the 2011 Odyssey vehicles utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, and are available to test drive at Barber Honda in 4500 Wible Rd. Bakersfield, CA 93313. Standard safety equipment included in 2011's Odyssey are Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, anti-lock braking system, three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, dual-stage multiple-threshold front airbags, a driver's front side airbag and a front passenger's side airbag with an occupant position detection system.
